Resources and Support

The Centre provides tailored support for public engagement professionals and researchers across higher education and the cultural sector. Through our Enhanced Engagement Resources and Engagement Practice Support Service, we aim to grow confidence, capacity, and expertise in engagement practice.

Enhanced Engagement Resources

Our training and resource programme includes:

  • Free, participatory training sessions led by Centre staff and external facilitators
  • Interactive digital toolkits to support a range of public engagement approaches

Initial areas for training and toolkits may include embedding sustainability within engagement, co-designing engagement approaches with communities, emerging technologies, tackling challenging subjects and centring research in engagement events.

All toolkits will be accessible via RESHAPED, the School of Advanced Study’s (SAS) online learning platform. Designed specifically for arts and humanities researchers, RESHAPED offers flexible and customisable pathways to develop advanced skills in public engagement.

Engagement Practice Support Service

Launching in 2026, this new service will offer targeted advice and tailored development support, responsive to sector needs, for individuals and teams in:

  • Higher education institutions
  • Independent research organisations (IROs)
  • Creative and cultural organisations

Support will be available on application and delivered through a combination of consultants and the SAS Public Engagement team. This support will be a charged for service, but efforts will be made to ensure access for a range of budgets.
